SnapCapit (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.

1. Information We Collect

SnapCapit is designed to be lightweight and privacy-friendly.
We only collect the minimum data required to make the app work:

  • Reddit Username: Stored with your captions and votes so we can credit your contributions.
  • Uploaded Images: Stored in Reddit’s storage system for the duration of the caption session.
  • Captions & Votes: Stored in Reddit’s storage system and used only to determine winners.

We do not collect your Reddit password, email address, IP address, or any device/browser information.
We do not run analytics, trackers, or third-party logging tools.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to:

  • Display uploaded images and captions inside the app.
  • Show your Reddit username next to your contributions for credit.
  • Count votes and determine the top 3 captions for each image.
  • Generate final images with the top captions for posting back to Reddit.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or third parties.

3. Data Storage & Retention

  • Images, captions, and votes are stored only for the duration of the caption session.
    Once the timer ends and the post is closed, they are automatically deleted from Reddit’s storage.
  • Final generated images may remain publicly visible on Reddit as posts, following Reddit’s own policies.
  • We do not retain any data on our own servers after the session ends.

4. Moderation & Content

  • SnapCapit does not store flagged or inappropriate captions.
  • Moderators manage their own subreddit content and have no access to any additional private data about users.
  • If a caption is reported or removed by moderators, it is deleted along with the rest of the session’s data.

5. Security

  • All interactions happen through Reddit’s secure API and storage.
  • No passwords are ever collected — authentication is handled entirely through Reddit’s OAuth.

6. Your Rights

Since SnapCapit does not store data beyond the active session, there is no persistent personal data to retrieve or delete.
If you wish to have a generated meme removed after posting, you can request its removal through Reddit’s reporting tools or contact the subreddit moderators.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as SnapCapit evolves.
When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page and announce major changes on our GitHub page or subreddit.
